Nylon holds up well to extreme traffic and is good for commercial uses as well as the public areas of a house. Contrarily, it can snag and pull and is the best option for creating static electricity. Polyester is not as durable, but it cleans just as well and is actually mildew resistant while shedding moisture easily. Acrylic is the best option for commercial uses as it is the most durable and easiest to clean.
The colors in acrylic carpeting also fade less than the other options. There are even treatments that are applied to make cleaning the carpets easier.The carpet pad is just as important as the carpet. The right pad will cushion the carpet from the hard subfloor. It will also insulate from cold and noise from underneath. The pad will also add more support to the cushion, sometimes extending a manufacturer's warranty if the correct size is used.
